Reaktor 5 or lower
Instrument Sequencer

DESCRIPTION

This is a modified version of the step sequencer that comes in Vierring. Only its set up to work with Redrum in Reason and the first row in Battery. It has ten drum sequencers with velocity controllable gates and a separate sequencer below it for doing multiple triggers per step (triplets, 32nd notes and the like). There is also 6 midi controller modulators that come with it to modify things like drum decay, pitch or whatever you want to assign to. One of the best aspects of it is length modulation. Which comes on the original vierring obviously, but using it on drums achieves some really exciting results. You'll have to play with it to see. Not alot of presets. Hats off to Mike Daliot for such a great sequencer. It has done alot of good things for my drum beats.

*New in 1.5 Gave it a facelift. Has a new "constant" mode which make the length mod sequencer behave more predictably. You can switch between it and the more random original Vierring setting. New "Hold" knobs which allow this sequencer to work with "gate" mode in Reason. It lengthens the gates to give longer decays. Mod sequencers have adjustable speeds. And some other fixes.

This is actually v.1.5 not 2.1. Also i included a version of Reddrum by Stephan V. to allow users a reference to what the sequencer does. (Thx for the advice Phil D)

GREAT WORK! Just tried within Kore to trigger Battery, and becuase I just wanted to use for this purpose I deleted the Redrum module out of it to save screen space. I have a request though. Please can you make a 12 note (octave version) instead of just 10. Also get rid of the Redrum like I have in this version. This would be solely designed for triggering Battery. It would then give you full access to a 12 note drum kit. Hey why not even make a 2 octave version! By the way is there any way to copy and paste between patterns?

Peter, I just tried it with Kore 2 instead of the internal Kore 2 sequencer ... work perfectly :)

Ok, sorry for the big fuss. I solved th problem with running old vieriant with the new one and then I found out that it wasn't that hard to change which midi signals it sends out. So anyway, thanks Jason for the great plugin. It's exactly what I needed.

I wanted to load two Vieriant instruments into one reaktor ensemble, but the application quits unexpectedly. Anyone knows why? I'm after having two vieriants sending midi to battery. If this setup is at all possible, I'd have to ask you Jason, if I may, to create another instance with the 10 sequencers set to a different range. That would be greatly appreciated.

As for problems in Live, I've battled those for quite a while. Ableton doesn't seem to route polyphonic MIDI data from channel to channel. I'm a big fan of driving machines from a great selection of standalone sequencer plug ins. I've found that using Phrazor from Sonicbytes (great stuff) inside ableton allows you to route no problem within itself. Other than that, I never have those problems when I work in Cubase SX3.

great - I was thinking that I was going to have to try and build something myself that did this -- now you've done it for me. Thanks J

Ray, try messing with your midi patch through settings. You might have some sort of midi feedback problem you're having.

the problem must be with how Live is handling MIDI coming from Reaktor. Everything works fine if I use the IAC bus to route MIDI from Reaktor standalone to Battery3 in Live.

Jason, I'm having the same issue with Redrum. I can't have more than one drum triggered on the same step. Only the drum with the higher number will sound. For instance, if I have drum 1 and drum 2 set to trigger on the first step only drum 2 will sound. If I then have drum 3 set to trigger on the first step only drum 3 will sound.

Peter, i havent used Kore so all i can suggest is to find out how or if you can set up a Midi bus within Kore. And Ray, im sorry but i cant say why you're having your issue either, but im pretty confident this isnt a problem with Vieriant or Reaktor. Id suggest posting this on the Battery forum

well, I spoke to soon. I can get vieriant to send MIDI and Battery to receive MIDI but not more than one drum can be triggered at the same time. For instance - I have drum1 and drum2 sequencers set up to trigger on the same step but Battery only receives the drum2 trigger. can anybody give me some guidance here.

nevermind - you have to use Reaktor as an fx plugin and not an instrument in Live in order to send MIDI (apparently)

ok so I feel stupid now. I had this working with Battery in Live before but now I can't. I don't know what the difference is between now and then but somehow I'm not doing something right. I have vieriant on a MIDI track and Battery on another track set to receive MIDI from the track vieriant is on. this should work shouldn't it? wish I could remember how I had it set up before.

How do you route it to Battery inside Kore?
Phil Durrant

actaully Stephan V's RD-10 has a 10 voice drum sound engine which can be used, just delete the sequencer.

jason, i think it would be a good idea to do a Reaktor version. meaning use knobs instead of constants for the MIDI notes. also, if you provided a simple drum sound instrument, this would make it easier for people to try out.

You can set up a iac midi bus within OSX if you're using a mac. Otherwise on the pc you could use midiyoke to accomplish the same thing. Or else just run the midi out of your interface back into another port. But doing it internally makes more sense. To answer your question Russell. If you tell me what midi note numbers you want the drum machine to trigger to work in Live and i can set it up for you. email me at disquieter6@hotmail.com if you wanted that.
