abstract general-purpose sequencer - R5 only
DESCRIPTION
ok, here it is. this is the sequencer from my squares upload, ready to be popped into any ensemble for easy use. to connect, use the in/out lists in the instrument panel header (like you would use for any other R5 sequencer like SQP).
this sequencer is not designed to get normal-sounding rhythms or sequences from. it has no grid markers and is very hard to draw in "straight" rhythms, which is what makes it sound so crazy. also, the pitch that is sent out is a random value selected each time the note object is played, randomly chosen from the values between the low and high verticle position of the note-object, scaled by the min/max pitch values set in the pitch:range section.
note that the various parameters of each note-object can be used as modulation sources. these include:
-pitch
-velocity
-note length (horizontal size)
-note center (the verticle value that is the direct center of the object, without any randomizing)
-note height (verticle size)
these values are first smoothed by a variable time (thanks to David Morris' indespensable Event Slew macro) to create ramps between the values. then, they are sent as modulation data. you can use both the IC Send and/or MIDI protocols (using either MIDICC or poly-aftertouch for MIDI out). ote that IC send values (destinations) don't seem to be stred seperatly by snapshots, which sucks IMO, so only one saved state per instance. for differant values for each snap, try using the MIDI CC's, with the controls being MIDI-learned.
included is both the .ism file to be easily placed in an ensemble (this is the main part of the download) and a test ensemble using MemoryDrum2 and a modified version of the NI PitchShifter (which is mostly used to show off the IC send/modulation features). note that MD2 contains a fairly large sample-map of my own drum hits map with various Reaktor synths that are free for anyone to use.
thanks for all the support recently, i truly appreciate it. i am going to try and finish the Reaktions.com remix project, so this will most likely be my last upload for the next month or so. again, thanks everyone, i hope you enjoy using this as much as i did programming it - there's many hours of blood, sweat and tears in those wires and modules as i learned the ins and outs of R5's fantastic new Snap Value Array and Polydisplays, and i now understand fully what C-List meant when he said it can take weeks worth of programming time to make a functional sequencer using R5's new tools.
