Press P on the keyboard to start the clock or do it with the mouse. It will count up one pattern every time the reset triggers.

This is awesome, sorry I meant to give you a higher rating but my fat thumb thought better of it. There's a suggestion on the feature suggestion board suggesting this be fixed.
