DESCRIPTION

A simple rearrangement of "Metal Reverb" originally designed by Martijn Zwartjes. All I did was cut the modules out of their respective macros and paste them onto one page (which was a headache) in order to understand the algorithm. I then re-macro'd (is that a word?) everything in a way that made more clear sense in terms of routing, even though I still don't completely understand the math.

"Metal Reverb" was designed before the diffuser delay module was built into R5, so Martijn had designed his own "MDiff" diffusion macro with several math modules performing some lofty equation that's way over my head. So, I just replaced the "MDiff" modules with a daisy chain of diffuser delays being controlled by a global diffuse knob. This seems to be more CPU economic. I then added a simple on/off switch and a dry/wet knob, as well as a freeze button that simply sets the time value to zero, which gives you the impression of an infinite feedback loop, even though it's not infinite. I also changed the filters from 1-pole to 2-pole LP and HP 12db filters (with Lo-Shelf and Hi-Shelf EQ modules) and made them visible in the front panel.

Clearly, this is still Martijn's algorithm, so he still gets all the credit. But I wanted to lay it all out in a way that helped me to understand how this particular algorithm functions.

Thanks, Martijn. It's a great reverb.

Having been introduced to Martijn Zwartjes' R6 Reverb (from Steampipe) through Kristian Thom's Auralis ensemble, I always loved the sound of it - especially the deep, long, lush decay, which is like no other (that I know of). This rework has even bettered the original, and not only by the absence of spaghetti code - a clear layout (panel wise and code wise) helps to get the most out of this astonishingly light on the cpu reverb. Sadly, no one seems to think this is worth a comment, let alone a vote. Anyway, to me this is a 5* recommendation, so THANK YOU Bryan for taking the time to make this a part of the library! Well done!!
