DESCRIPTION
this macro grabs the maximum and, if you wish,
also the minimum value from the inputs.
the macro is built up modular, you can set up
as many inputs as you want by simply copying
the inner "stage" macros. remember to delete
any unused stages, or these unconnected inputs
will be recognized as 0.
