WowADT
Auto double track
DESCRIPTION
Once when I was in high school (way back in the late 80's) I found out what double tracking was and wanted to use two Walkman's to build an auto double tracking machine. This was beyond my either my capabilities or gumption or both. Anyway, I never did it. This is what I think it would have been like.
There are two versions here. In the first the "DC motors" speed is controlled by an LFO. The right channel the "head" can be "moved" to create up to around 45 ms delay. And then each channel has its own "motor" with the speed modulated with an LFO. At first there was just one "motor", but I think two sounds less pitchy. Which this kind of is because it is actually creating intentional wow and flutter. (Oh, I think it's more pitchy the fist second after starting. I can't really tell if it quits or if my ears just adjust to it. But I think it's kind of realistic, so I didn't try to fix it.)
The second version the "heads" actually move, controlled by LFOs.
The demo is 4 bars raw, then each version.
