Reaktor 6

DESCRIPTION

The Trish Synth is the attempt to bring an old and beloved VST Plugin, the PPG Tritium, back into the Reaktor community. Back in the early 2000’s, good freeware VST Plugins were rather rare compared to the today situation. When trying to bring a good TB303-sound into the DAW, one had the choice between Propellerheads “Rebirth” and basically the “PPG Tritium”. Rebirth (like older versions of “Reason”) required the Re-Wire technology to co-operate with the DAW. Hence, using the Tritium VST instrument instead, offered some great advantages.

You may ask if Trish/Tritium is yet another TB303 clone? The answer is YES and NO. First of all, you can create the typical TB303 bassline and acid sounds, so yes. Secondly, both synths are polyphonic, so no. Thirdly, Trish/Tritium are voiced differently (Cutoff, Resonance and Filter Decay have extended ranges). Finally, Tritium and Trish offer some additional features (a) like high-pass filter modes (b) extended envelope settings.

So, why not using Tritium, why the remake for Reaktor? First of all, tritium is no longer available and is 32 bit, only. Secondly, adjusting the knob settings in the DAW has been rather inconvenient (circle-movements with the mouse instead of up/down). Thirdly, its simply great to have a nice instrument like this for use with Reaktor.
