Cusp Electric
A Complex Cybernetik Brain
DESCRIPTION
There was a proto version of this on the old forum. It had a few bugs which are now fixed, and its had a ton of refinements to make it run better.
A 20 out re-implementation of SuperCollider's CuspN and CuspL uGens. This creates a chaotic map based on the following equation:
x[n+1] = a - b * sqrt(abs(x[n]))
From Euroreakt - At low frequencies, this produces a useful stepped or smoothed semi-random sequence. (Why "semi-random"? Well, it's chaotic, meaning that it's a deterministic sequence. It's not a typical pseudo-random generator. Its output tends towards repetition with only minor variation.) At high frequency, it provides stable tones with intermittent dropouts.
MODS
+ random - xy - snaps
+ dual cusp gens (they are offset and both are controlled by the same frequency dial
+ out gain
+ 4 way speed range on cusp gen 1
+ Logical outputs extracted from the chaos with automated pitch ranges,
can be used to trigger oscillators, or FM etc
+ clock vca inputs for all outputs (switch on and connect)
+ chromatic scale snap
+ dual Alien Invasion outs . This mode adds in notes falling between the original notes generated by cusp 1
+ A Cusp Stacc out, this is a mutation of cusp 1 that will extract the timings and play randomised higher notes on top of some of them to accent and harmonise the chaos.
+ 3 final random outs that can send coded signals to other aliens are also available when needed. Riff 1+2 generate quite long slow notes compared to the Cusp and riff 3 is more active. (this is relative as overall speed depends on the main cusp frequencies speed)
+ an automated 66 step Illogical Double Kik Drum Gen with 10 outs
+ direction of the sequencer modifies the pattern
+ roll speed for the snare and kik at various steps
+ tom roll betwenn step 58-66
+ BLAST- cranking up the freq enables cybergrind speeds already, but the riffs will also speed up. So this special blaster mode is for creating a mode where the drums can be speedy and the riffs can remain slow.
+an 8 step gate sequencer on the drums. the whole pattern can be gated and steps can be muted. The TIME control reduces or extends the gate length, which allows less or more drum hits to pass, making the beat more simple or more complex. The sequencer speed is controlled by roll speed.
+auto frequency - activates an 8 step random frequency sequencer - the speed of the sequencer is controlled by the roll speed
Thanks to Hetrick for original Cusp Block
Good luck !
