16 Knobs - Ben
A Benjolin-inspired instrument
DESCRIPTION
16 Knobs – Ben is an interpretation of the Benjolin by Rob Hordijk. Two oscillators are set up to interact with each other as well as the Rungler. The Rungler is a shift register that will cycle through inputs from Oscillator 1 or can be locked into place for an eight-value sequence. The filter can be band pass or low pass and is usually used at high resonance values.
This instrument comes with a config file for the MIDI Fighter Twister. Reaktor will send feedback to the controller when presets are changed or a control on the screen is changed. The config file is also set up to toggle the three switches with encoder presses as indicated by the markings.
The reverb is objectively not good. But it does smear the transients nicely which can yield some new sounds at fully wet.
This is the first of a few planned instruments in the “16 Knobs” series, all of which are laid out with the MIDI Fighter Twister in mind.
This version of the Rungler was taken from Michael Hetrick’s Euro Reakt blocks.
