Blocks Ensembles

DESCRIPTION

Made for the Linnstrument with diverse Blocks, each of them was turned into a four voice polyphonic block. This way, each block in the GUI is actually controlling 4 independent blocks.

Each voice has its own midi channel, with channel pressure mapped to all "A" mods and CC1 Modwheel mapped to all "B" mods. Pitch Bend Range is fixed to 96

For sound generators, I'm using the Kodiak Duality OSC (Main OSC Channel 1, MOD OSC channel 2) and the Microwave Oscillator (Channel 3), into a West Coast LPG. Then, every voice goes into a master Delay Effect.

9 example presets are included.

Version 1.2
-No longer including a version with CC=74 for Mod Wheel since it didn't seem to work well with a Seaboard.
-New Voice Input method based on a single block rathern than individual blocks, improved performance.
-PB Range fixed to 96
-New smoothing method for Aftertouch and added a modifier to increase aftertouch sensitivity.

@Roman Smirnov you should configure it for channels 13-16 but you can change the synth's configuration by moving the note in parameters in each of the four channels to the channel of your preference.

This is fabulous! Thanks so much for creating this!

How i should configure linnstrument`s channels for this?

@Joseph Guisti I did have to come up with some creative solutions. Each block has only one GUI but several processors, as you stated. To get them to show the last voice triggered, I am checking which voice has had the latest gate on and then the GUI shows the value of only the last voice with a gate on message. In retrospect, it's probably easier to turn all of the blocks into Macros instead of instruments and then just use the "Voice" macros to get the GUI to show the last values played.

This is so excellent, and I wholeheartedly salute your choice of blocks; the duality/microwave combo is crazy versatile. For those of use who want to create polyphonic blocks like these for creating more linnstrufriendly ensembles, where's a good place to start? Opening up your ensemble, I see that the process macro, etc. are essentially just replicated four times per block, but I'm assuming you had to do some tricky stuff to get one set of gui controls addressed to all four sub-blocks, etc. Where's a good place to learn how to do this? Also, that notein x 4 is a godsend

@Bob unfortunately I am not much of a sound designer, but I do what I can. I am also working on making the ensemble more efficient and on doing other ensembles that play nice with the Linnstrument. I personally have a Linnstrument 128!

A few more made for Linnstrument kind of patches would be most welcome!

@Greg it really is just assigning one voice per midi channel, but doing that does require some level of tweaking so it works well. You can also think of this as a made-for-Linnstrument kind of patch.

Is MPE even a set specification now? I thought there was still some debate over this.

Thank you! This is great. I have been waiting for some one to do this for a couple of years. It works great with the Linnstrument. Maybe this will inspire more MPE ensembles.

the roli bridge and the block does work for bitwig too. everything seems fully compatible here, as long as i force the mpe mode. just having some first mpe fun :) thanks for the trigger!

@Thala I do not own Bitwig so I'm unsure. But I use Reaper and it is extremely easy to setup!

thanks so much for this approach. is there allready a bitwig-reaktor-MPE brigde-macro existent?

Hi Gustavo, Thanks for the link. Didn't even know about that ensemble that Roli did. Works perfectly here with all 5 control axes.

@Greg It is hard to tell the problem without a Roli Seaboard. Have you tried out the ensemble Roli did? You can find it here: https://support.roli.com/article/using-the-seaboard-with-reaktor/ If that does work for you, I could eventually try to incorporate the same Midi scheme into a Roli Version.

@Gustavo, its hard to tell what is happening. I see it change voices when I strike a key. but it doesn't do it consistently. CC74 worked,a little then stopped working and glide (pitchbend) doesn't work at all. Let me know what else i can do to help out.

@Greg I have just uploaded a new version CC=74 on the Mod Wheel of each voice! Please let me know if this tweaking is enough to make it compatible with the Roli Seaboard out of the Box. If you do have to modify anything else, please let me know so that I can modify the Roli version accordingly.

Thank you @Gustavo. Using Channel Aftertouch but need to figure out how to assign CC1 to the Y-axis. Right now it seems hardwired to sending CC74. Any tips would be helpful.

@Greg it should work as well, provided that you are using CC1 for the y axis and Channel Aftertouch on the z axis. Also remember that you must set the right midi channels.

This is great to see! Should this work with a Roli Seaboard as well? I can't seem to get it to respond.
