DESCRIPTION

Fugue is a multi-featured arpeggiator, capable of all sorts of note sequences and patterns, including polyphonic arpeggios, chords, clusters, geigerish magmas and what not.

From JS Bach to Steve reich or Philip Glass; from new age to math rock; from classicism to atonalism, Fugue can provide you with new and fresh algorithmic compositional ideas.

Many implementations are kind of unorthodox, due to my ignorance in many aspects of music theory. That was the main reason to develop such a device, so that it can fill my lack of resources in harmony.

Fugue synchronizes with your DAW's transport and sends MIDI to your favourite synthesizer, although a copy of steamPipe is added for testing purposes.

Fugue could be easily transformed into a live MIDI processor which applies the different macros to incoming MIDI notes.
You can use and modify Fugue freely for your music composition, but you can't resell it or make money with the ensemble or its parts.

If you like Fugue and you use it in your compositions, please let me know, i'll be glad to know what you create using it!

Tell me please how to use only arpeggiator with Reaktor 6 blocks? "Note In" block don't receive midi information from this. And .ens block doesn't have any gate/pitch outs. Sorry for my eng :(

When I use this with FM4, I can hear the key I press along with the sequence. How can I disable this?

"Fugue could be easily transformed into a live MIDI processor which applies the different macros to incoming MIDI notes." If you'd ever care to give a few pointers on how exactly to do this, I'd love to have a go at it!

This, and the earlier version, too, is SUCH a joy. Just checking it out again inside Logic and even more amazed by it. Thanks yet again, Santiago. Your Reaktor MIDI FX are among the coolest, most musical devices I've ever found, over many years of looking hard.

This is such an amazing sequencer. I wonder if you could help me figure out how to make it play 'in key' - like if I play an A note in, I often get an arrangement out in E (without transpose on in the 'scales' section.

Can you please provide a deeper explanation of the Scale Editor and how that affects the notes being played by the Arp. I'm wanting to have the ARP only play notes In a specific scale. Please help. Thanks

Very nice! Unfortunately I'm also experiencing the CPU spike when the sequence changes. This happens in Reaktor standalone as well.

Hey Future Aztec! nice to see the issue with the video. I could test the ensemble in a copy of Ableton Live 9, using reaktor 5 and macOS yosemite, and got no CPU spikes there. I'm afraid it could be related with the live/OS/reaktor version, so i can't do much with the problem... sorry!

I switched out Maletta and just ran the stock Fugue ensemble with steam pipe. Then I ran it in a very minimal Ableton setup with 3 tracks. In this screen capture https://youtu.be/7C_PccAkTfI you can see reaktor spiking the cpu in the top right corner when the sequence switches under the scale section. I did not record audio here but no matter -- you can still see the spike.

Future Aztec Man that's weird! i'm running with no problems in Reaper... The CPU spike is happening in Fuguer or in Maletta? The click is also present when you render to .wav? I'm afraid i can't debug that without an ableton live around...

I am running Fugue with Maletta as a reaktor plug-in in Ableton. I thought the clipping I heard was solved but it has reappeared. Even when I change the value of steps to 1 in the scales section, I still get a cpu spike and a clipping sound. I noticed that it is when the Ableton clock reaches the end of a bar count, so that at the end of each bar there is clipping. It seems as though there is a kind of reset taking place that overloads the cpu for a moment.

Thank you so much, I just realized a few minutes ago that it requires MIDI input and jumped backed here to tell you. This is really fascinating. Thank you so much for making it!

Hey D Vyd! It should be functional as it is. you need to start the clock (press space) and play a note on you keyboard. If that doesn't work, please check that Steampipe is receiving MIDI from Fugue by selecting "Fuge" in the "from Internal Instrument" menu, on the Steampipe properties Good Luck!

This looks like an exciting sequencer! I'm having difficulty getting sounds out of the included Steampipe synth. I see MIDI occurring in the upper right indicator of Reaktor. I'm not convinced Steampipe is receiving MIDI. It is definitely not producing sound. I see it is wired to the audio outs. Any suggestions?

Ah yes, Malletta is a perfect choice, thanks for the idea! Don't miss adding Paule's essential snapset to it: https://www.native-instruments.com/en/reaktor-community/reaktor-user-library/entry/show/10701/

Use the output clipping from Micro Prism at the end of the macro row in Maletta.

I got some nice sounds when I hooked it up with Maletta from the user library. However, I am noticing a cpu spike when the scale sequencer flips to the next step, which causes a clipping sound in my speakers. Any ideas?

Blocks being monophonic they're not a good match with Fugue, though somebody else may have a work-around for that…? But you can easily swap out SteamPipe for any polyphonic non-blocks synth or sampler instrument from the Factory or the User Lib, no wires needed. Delete Steampipe from the top-level panel view and drag in the instrument you want and hook its outs to the audio outs that Steampipe was attached to. Then use the Connect tab in Properties to disable External MIDI to the new instrument and set it instead to get MIDI from Fugue internally, which should already be set to get External MIDI. That's it!

How do I switch steampipe out? Is it possible to somehow replace the Note-In utility block in a blocks synthesizer ensemble with Fugue? It is the lack of wires that is throwing me off, just that yellow "in."

Thanks mr Zobel! I'm curious to see your approach... your previous arpeggiator in the UL was really fun! there might be some bits from yours in this one, as it's one of the many i dissectioned during the building process...

Thanks, that was it: Each device was set to rec. MIDI from ALL external devices, which here includes IAC Drivers. Setting them to only get it from my keys seems to have done the trick—will remember that:) Off to play, thank you very much!

David, maybe you are having a midi feedback loop? Please check that the external midi output of the 3 instruments is not being sent again to themselves... that could be a possible source of errors...

Ah, SO excited to see this:) But anyone on a Mac getting this to work? As delivered, not a single snap works without instantly spiking into Over on my 2015 iMac, even when set to 11025. With only one unit On, snap "bach" works, but no others. With all but one unit deleted, of the first 12 snaps, only gerhard and peli work, though all from 13 down do, too. At 44100, these run at around 5%. Hope this can be fixed! Thanks!
