How to get started with Komplete 15

Setting up Komplete is a straightforward process, however with the huge number of included instruments and effects you might wonder where to start. On this page you will learn about the process of installing products from Komplete, and which products to install first. Additionally you will find resources to get started with your new instruments.

Native Access 2

Registration, activation, and installation are all managed in Native Access.
If you purchased Komplete as a download, the included products will show up in Native Access automatically. All you need to do after purchase is log into Native Access using your Native-ID and you are ready to install. Get Native Access here if you don't have it yet.

Open Native Access and create a new Native-ID or log into your existing one to register Komplete. A dialogue requesting you to put in your serial should open automatically if you have the hard drive connected, alternatively you will find the “Add Serial” button in the top left corner of Native Access. You are now ready to install.

What do I install first?

You can install all products in Native Access by clicking the “Install All” button. However, if your internet connection is not very stable, you don’t have enough disk space, or you want to try specific instruments first while downloading others in the background, you might choose to manually install individual products. We strongly recommend that you install Kontakt and Reaktor 6 first, as most other products run within those two applications. More specifically, sampled instruments are loaded in the Kontakt engine, and most synthesizer instruments are loaded in Reaktor.
If you own a Komplete Kontrol Keyboard, install the Komplete Kontrol software to get the most out of your midi controller.

Using it for the first time

You can use most Komplete instruments and effects as plug-ins in any DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) or as independent standalone applications. To load them in your DAW, ensure that you have installed the plug-in files in the correct folders. The location of these plug-in folders depends on your operating system and your DAW. For more information, please consult the respective documentation. You can point Native Access to these folders in the preferences. More information on changing the install locations in Native Access can be found here.

However you want to use the instruments, you should open the standalone version of the following instruments first in order for them to scan the presets and samples:
  • Battery 4
  • Massive
  • FM8
  • Komplete Kontrol
