NATIVE SKETCHES

My productions normally have a very soft and bouncy feel to them, so the dreamy sounds of Absynth seemed a perfect fit. It’s the only VST I used, really – I’d heard a lot about it and just wanted to dive in and explore it. In the end, all I really had to do was tweak some of the presets and soften them up a bit to match my style. The background came from the Starlights preset, which had just the right ambience. Repeating Myself was another preset that I used to give the song a gentle push about mid-way through, and Alien Ice gives everything a cold, yet relaxing sheen.

Biography
Meltycanon credits video games as the reason he started making music; as a child, he replayed them simply to hear the soundtracks. Today, the Alabama-based producer's aspirations lie in creating evocative compositions people can get caught up in. You can hear his production chops on the track “Heartthrob” from Awful Records' Father, while his 2016 vocal-driven album, soft & wet, distills warm beats and dreamy melodies into a unique brand of chill hip hop with strands of neo-trap and aniwave throughout.
