USING SMART PLAY
KOMPLETE KONTROL offers an easy way to create interesting harmonic progressions. Explore the built-in scales and then play your instruments with chords and arpeggiator sequences. Time to get creative!
ACTIVATING SCALES
Press SCALE to activate the Scale. The default scale is C Major.
SELECTING A SCALE
Once you have activated the Scales engine you can adjust its settings. Press SHIFT + SCALE, then use knobs 1–3 to select a root key, a bank of scales, and the type of scale you want. Refer to the Manual for a full list of scales.
ACTIVATING CHORDS
Chords can add fullness and emotional depth to your music. To get started, press SHIFT + SCALE, then turn knob 5 to select Harmonizer or Chord Set, then use knobs 6–8 to explore the different type of chords — now, each key you press will trigger a whole chord instead of a single note. The notes of each chord also stay within the scale selected. Be aware, Chord mode will only work with polyphonic instruments such as pads or keys.
ACTIVATING THE ARPEGGIATOR
An arpeggiator is a tool that plays the notes of a chord in quick succession, creating a melodic pattern. When you hold multiple notes on a keyboard, each note will be played one at a time, and at the speed you set.
To activate the Arpeggiator, press ARP. When SCALE is activated the Arpeggiator will follow the notes of the scale. Just press and hold any key to try it out!
