SAMPLING IN MASCHINE
This section guides you through sampling the connected equipment in MASCHINE.
Listening to the Input
You can listen to the input using headphones directly via the KOMPLETE AUDIO 6. First, turn the INPUT/HOST knob to the left (INPUT). Then adjust the 1-2/3-4 and the MONO/STEREO switches as follows:
- If you are using a microphone or instrument connected to IN 1, set the 1-2/3-4 switch to 1-2, and the MONO/STEREO switch to MONO.
- If you are using a stereo synthesizer or any other stereo line level source connected to IN 3 and IN 4, set the 1-2/3-4 switch to 3-4, and the MONO/STEREO switch to STEREO.
Adjusting the Input Level
If you are using a microphone or instrument connected to IN 1, use the GAIN knob next to IN 1 to adjust the input level for your recording. Check the metering on the top of the KOMPLETE AUDIO 6: The blue LEDs should light up solidly. Avoid levels reaching the red LEDs as your recording might become distorted!
Note: If you are using a stereo synthesizer or any other stereo line level source connected to IN 3 and IN 4, the input level is fixed. Use the output volume control of your synthesizer or other line level source to adjust the level.

Getting Ready
Open a new Project. Then open the Sample Editor.
In the Sample Editor, make the following settings in the INPUT section:
- If you are using a microphone or instrument connected to IN 1, select Ext. Mono as SOURCE and In 1 L as INPUT.
- If you are using a stereo synthesizer or any other stereo line level source connected to IN 3 and IN 4, select Ext. Stereo as SOURCE and In 2 L+R as INPUT.
Finally, select FREE as the LENGTH of your recording. This way you can sample for as long as you wish.
