DESCRIPTION

Snare Drum with "quantic", discrete snare's spectrum , and stick effect on the drum sound.

Snare drum build for the synthesis of the snare from the picture of the spectrum of snare drum in the sound to sound article, and trying to get something more or less close to the picture for the snare part, and improve the sound after. Where the author see notches, i have seen noise bands at different levels and width changing with velocity.
Then the solution is my personal technique i call Dynamic Damp Noise Bands, without any hint anywhere , including scientific sources, for building a snare sound like that.

Quanstik Snare Drum Synthesizer features :
+Original Dynamic Damp Noise Bands synthesis, with Band pass filters with resonance modulation by working with "damp" value ( 1 - resonance * 1000 ) for each noise band
Synth divided in 3 parts :
-Tone with 2 BP filters
-Overtones with 11 modal BP filters
- Snare with 7 * 3 BP filters

+Global tuning for the drum ( tone + overtone )

+Unique Static Gate allowing to select a value for the the played velocity independent from the played velocity if you want to test, play with on defined level of velocity.

+Pitch modulation envelope , decay time and level in tone.

+ Mixer of Tone + Overtones + Snare

+ Amplitude + output LP filter , envelope . Overtones and Snare pass by the LP filter, amplitude and filter have the same attack and decay. Independent curves for the decay for amplitude and filter.

+ Tone , Overtones, Snare sections :
Common features fro each section :
-LP + HP filters , notch filter for Tone and Snare
- damping section

+Original Damp section for Tone + Overtones + Snare
- setting for base damp value, + velocity boost
- modulation envelope of the damp with decay (hidden attack ) and level of modulation , impact for Tone and overtone, Damp explosion for the snare.

This is this features that give THE snare sound, with a dynamic sound with time and velocity.

+ Overtones specific features
- positive and negative comb filters with frequency setting and mix with original sound.
- level slope : slope of the level of the modal filters between 1 and 1/ratio
Allow the creation of varied overtones, some close of the real ones, with simple parameters.

+Snare specific features :
- velocity range for "explosion" level
- amplitude envelope with attack for setting a specific attack to the snare slower than the rest
- velocity sensitivity makes the relative level of the snare rated by the velocity level + velocity range
-Snare synthesizer :
Control of 7 groups of 3 BP filters a central band and 2 side bands
the frequency knob defines the frequency of the central band , side band are at - 1 and +1.3 tones
Level define the level of the central band , side bands level are at half of the value.
Explosion Ration multiply the damp value of the central band by this value, side bands use normal value. Set for curiosity, kept for the more crispy/bright sound with low values

+ Freq vib : frequency and range inspired from the light modulation of the bands in real spectrum, modulation at high speed of the frequency of the BP filters. Makes the sounds less rigid at he end .

Effects :
Overdrive and Reverb
optional, spectrum analyzer

Demo made with the random arpegiator with the same notes and velocities of the presets.

Update version 1.1!

New option! Modulation Wheel Stick Position
Allows to control with the modulation wheel the virtual position between "center" and "border" , like with real drum.
Morphing between two sets of values for Tone level, overtones level , and overtones levels slope. Each set of values can be tuned, changed at will.
When MW Position is ON, the 3 normal parameters in the patch are overridden.

Need a Modulation wheel , or a control of CC1 , for being used.
Get a great range of sounds with one patch with the velocity and Mod Wheel.
You can alternate deep sounds around the center or the bright sound full of overtone at the border, with the same sound , with just moving the mod wheel, instead of having to change patch.

Added presets using MW position feature, and their variations with different snare spectrums.
