Daedra
A dusty ring mod / distortion hybrid.
DESCRIPTION
Update 3 upgrades the analog modeled ring modulator design using the Parker's Ring Mod oded by Louis-Xavier Buffoni.
This module has two channels that are processed separately, so it can be used as a stereo effect.
Gain is added to the input signal, and then it is routed to the dual ring modulator. The oscillators can mix with the signal in a serial or parallel configuration, or any blend in between.
The waveforms of the oscillators can be blended between triangle and saw shapes, and a positive or negative bias can be added to the mixed output of the ring modulator.
The input signal is also routed to a bit crusher, and then processed by a logic circuit that mixes a rectified version of the bitcrushed signal with the negative portion of the ring modulator's output.
The gain, bit crusher, and rektifier controls can be modulated with the included CV source, a dust noise generator. This CV signal can be smoothed with the slew control, creating a slowly drifting yet noisy modulation source.
An output mixer with controls for the dry, ring modulator, noise, and distortion levels is provided. A soft clipping mode for its output can be enabled, otherwise a harsh hard clipper is used.
The sound demo was made by recording the module's generative capabilities, and then processing that recording through the effect a few times.
Thanks to Euro Reakt for logic, noise, and distortion macros.
Thanks Poddig for filters and oscillators.
Thanks Louis-Xavier Buffoni for the ring modulator design.
